Introducing Allergens to Babies: Why Ongoing Exposure Matters

Introducing allergens is step one.

Continuing to offer them? That’s step two - and three and four….and it matters just as much!

Once your baby has safely tolerated an allergen (like peanut, egg, milk, or wheat), the goal is regular exposure. This helps maintain tolerance over time.

It doesn’t need to be daily or complicated. It can look like:
Peanut Butter and Raspberry Puree
• hard boiled egg offered weekly
• Yoghurt alongside fruit (or mixed with our Berry Chia Jam)
• Wheat pasta fingers (Our Beef Bolognese is great, easily mash down with a fork for bubs who aren't ready for this texture.)

Small amounts - but a consistent rhythm. That’s the hack.

If a food is tolerated once but never offered again, we miss the opportunity to reinforce that tolerance.

Research shows us that exposure is so important, and that keeping each allergen in baby’s rotation ~1/week after that is just as important.

Luckily there’s so many ways to include these nutrient dense allergens, which only supports healthy growth anyway 💛
