Around 11 months, appetite can swing noticeably. Some days they’re ravenous. Other days they survive on air and determination.
Growth spurts, developmental leaps, teething, sleep changes- all of it influences hunger.
Toddlers (and almost-toddlers) are surprisingly good at self-regulating intake over time. One light meal doesn’t mean a deficit. One big day doesn’t mean overeating.
Try zooming out to the week or even fortnight, not the specific meal.
Stay consistent with regular meal and snack times, balanced meal options and try to limit the pressure to finish
If you can review their eating over a week or two, and make mental (or physical) notes about which food groups they ate, and which they avoided- it can help you plan out which meals and snacks to prioritise for the weeks ahead. And if yoghurt on a spoon didn’t work, but they need some extra dairy in their diet- try baking some mini muffins which include cheese and/or milk. Getting creative and including food groups in different formats can go a long way in your first year of feeding, so they continue exposure and flavour variations, whilst being looked after nutritionally 💛
