Toddler Feeding at 24 Months: Building Healthy Eating Habits for Life
By 24 months, feeding is no longer just about meeting nutritional needs- it’s about shaping habits that will last well beyond toddlerhood. At this age, your child is well and truly forming their relationship with food.
They are learning:
- To listen to hunger and fullness cues
- To feel safe exploring new foods
- That mealtimes are predictable and positive
This means your role becomes less about managing every bite, and more about creating the right environment.
Focus on:
- Offering balanced meals consistently
- Maintaining structure (meals and snacks at regular times)
- Keeping mealtimes calm and pressure-free
Nutritionally, toddlers still need:
- Iron for development
- Calcium for bone growth
- Healthy fats for brain function
- A wide range of vitamins and minerals
When intake varies (as it often does), prioritising nutrient-dense options becomes key.
This is why they’re likely eating a range of meals, from our Le Famille lasagna, to our strawberry chia pudding, chicken and cauliflower Mac and Cheese, Beef and Liver meatballs and beyond.
At two, there will be days of big eating and days of barely anything at all. That’s part of normal development. What matters most is the pattern over time.
By two years old, your bub is graduating from baby academy and onto big kid territory. This is cause for celebration for them, you and your village. You’ve made it! Congrats on creating such a capable and adorable little person- we hope you have many amazing meals together through the tools you;ve set in motion this far!
