Why Iron Matters When Your Baby Starts Solids at 6 Months
Once solids begin, there’s one nutrient we know to gently prioritise: iron.
Around 6 months, babies’ natural iron stores begin to dip, and milk alone can’t quite top them up the way it once did. That’s why first foods aren’t just about avocado and banana alone (though we love those too).
Think iron-rich first:
• Grass-fed beef
• Lamb
• Chicken
• Lentils
• Chickpeas
• Tofu

It doesn’t need to be complicated. A spoonful of iron-dense purée alongside milk feeds is a beautiful start. Our grass fed beef blends or lamb & zucchini blends are designed with this exact stage in mind: balanced, gentle, and nutrient-dense.
Small amounts, slow exposure, no pressure to “eat a meal.”
If you can start solids with iron in mind, whilst also realising they need nutrients from a variety of ingredients (ahem, rainbow)... everything else builds from there. 💛
